David Grant

David Grant graduated from The State University of New York at Stony Brook (now Stony Brook University) in 1971 with a BS in Biology and received a PhD in Genetics from the University of Chicago in 1977. He was a Postdoctoral Fellow at Duke University and subsequently a Research Fellow and later Research Assistant Professor at St. Louis University Medical School. He retired from the USDA-ARS in 2019 and is currently a USDA Collaborator and an Affiliate Associate Professor in the Department of Agronomy at Iowa State University. He has served on the Plant & Animal Genome Conference (PAG) Organizing Committee since 1987 and on the Organizing Committee for the Plant & Animal Genome Conference Asia since 2013.

From 1983-1995 Dr. Grant led the Molecular Genetics project at Pioneer Hi-Bred Int. (now Corteva Agrisciences). He joined the USDA-ARS in 1995 and was SoyBase Curator until retirement. In addition to collaborating as SoyBase Curator with the soybean community on many diverse projects he investigated the evolutionary history of plant genomes using bioinformatic tools to compare related genomes, at various levels of detail, with the goal of correlating modern genomic structures to past molecular events.
